It’s in the heart of the Tarn, in Cambounet -sur-le-Sor, that the Sirius story takes shape, in the midst of fields of lavender, pastel and Cynara.
Sirius was founded by Gilles Berthoumieux in 1994. At the time, Gilles was an agricultural engineer specializing in tropical agronomy. His first job was to manage a dozen essential oil distilleries in Madagascar and the Comoros. Returning to France in the early 90s, he became a source for Sanoflore and Pierre Franchomme, two pioneers of essential oils in France.
Gilles drew up the charters for the first organic certifications for essential oils, with the French Ministries of Agriculture and Health.
He then founded Sirius, which quickly became a recognized and essential supplier for all the aromatherapy and cosmetics brands on the market.
